Shades of Blue

Home / The girl who waited / Shades of Blue

“Crimson red” he said answering an unasked question, catching me marveling in the turquoise of the bracelet he just handed to me, an early birthday gift, I peaked up at him, looking at his features, a bright smile spread on my face, “I know you favour blue” he added, “I can notice things, you know”. Finally I could articulate what I was thinking, “red is a dangerous colour… crimson is lethal”. I blushed, he stood up to capture my hand and help me wear the piece of jewelry, “unorthodoxy my dear, who said that fire and water couldn’t go together! now tell me, did I get the shade right?”.

Blue is the colour of sky, a shade of pale azure, it is also that of deep-sea, Le Petit Prince had breathtaking cerulean eyes, my precious gem was Sapphire, the day I first met him, I had a cyan dress on, and a book called “Le bleu de tes yeux” in hand, his Vespa was painted dark blue, and a shade of Eton blue was spread on his bruised arm. More than 50 shades of blue, were in the spectrum of colours, and many shades of it were painted and repainted in my memory. Blue had a major importance in my life, it always got me out of my foul mood, cleared my mind, and set me at peace.

I woke out of my trance, dazed, “you added a new shade to my life” I told him, grinning from ear to ear, giving him a chaste kiss on the cheek. With him, everything was richly and brightly coloured, my soul was dancing to his rhymes, he was peculiarly drumming to the beat of my heart, luring me in, seducing my mind, a magical world, a mixture of scarlet red and royal blue.
